Hin Muang
Just
a few hundred meters north of Hin Daeng lies Hin Muang (Purple
Rock) This totally submerged limestone pinnacle, more than
200 meters long and in some places is less than 20 meters
wide, seems to glow with purple soft corals and sea anemones.Numerous
little caves, ledges, and rocky outcrops provide a niche for
virtually every underwater creature found in Southeast Asia.
Its rich carpet of coral attracts an incredible amount
of marine life and its of the best sites for catching
sight of a passing Manta Ray and Grey Reef Sharks (which commonly
congregate in groups of a dozen or more.) Hin Muang like Richelieu
Rock in the Surin Islands to the north also draws Whale Sharks
and ranks among the best places to see these gentle giants.
Liveaboard trip only.
